TheWisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA)is currently seeking to fill a Security Officer 4 (50%) position at theWisconsin Veterans Home at Kingin King, WI.

Job Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Security and Transportation Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing safety, security, fire and medical first response services that affect the safety or security of residents/members, staff, guests and physical property of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.
This position also has responsibility in one specific area of emphasis or specialty including: staff training and certification; dispatch and budget information; hazardous materials training; fire/safety committee clerk; life safety code inspections; member records and information; or special equipment/wandering member information.
Special Notes:
Must possess certification as a Firefighter I with the State of Wisconsin.
Must possess certification as Wisconsin Department of Health Services Emergency Medical First Responder.
Must possess a valid driver-s license, and the ability to meet the minimum standards for driving a State of Wisconsin vehicle according to fleet driver risk management policies.
Due to the nature of this position a background check will be conducted prior to the offer of employment.
This position may work non-standard hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
safety practices and procedures.

fire prevention & suppression theory and techniques.
Skill in:
verbal and written communication.
computers, including the use of security, fire, and office software.
Ability to:
read and recognize common signage, including maps and plans.
detect and assess hazardous and potentially hazardous situations, including smoke, heat, chemical fumes, fire, etc.
prioritize dispatch calls and determine the appropriate action.
perform firefighting tasks.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
