Job Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Financial Management Supervisor, this position functions as the reimbursement specialist for the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK). This position specializes in the Medicare accounting transactions for WVHK. The position manages, maintains and controls all revenue claims along with corresponding expenses, payments, account balances and logs for Medicare parts A and B recipients relating to a qualifying stay; will analyze and interpret Medicare financial information to assist upper management in the decision making processes regarding admissions, discharges, ancillary services and other pertinent data to make sound fiscal decisions; electronically submits claims for Medicare parts A and B as well as all other program revenue sources; and monitors accounts receivables to maintain reasonable levels by working with Medicare intermediaries, insurance providers and other sources of payment.
The duties of this position are complex as evidenced by new and ever-changing healthcare programs. This position interprets and keeps current on Medicare rules and regulations to include: billing requirements, protocols, and auditing procedures. This position works with various disciplines across the 721 bed, 4 building facility, to resolve difference in claim submissions and Minimum Data Set (MDS) transmission to avoid payments defaulting to a lower rate; to correctly track census and levels of care information to ensure proper financial accounting entries; and to prepare a variety of complex reconciliations, ledger and analytical reports.
Special Notes:
Must possess Professional training in accounting or auditing such as that which would be acquired by: earning a Bachelor's Degree in accounting or auditing from an accredited post-secondary college/university; Or Commensurate experience and training.
