GIS Specialist

Input data into Countys Geographic Information System/Land Records System (GIS/LRSYS) using various Esri mapping and data management software.
Generate maps (hard copy and digital), statistics, and reports using the Countys GIS/LRSYS for other departments as well as the general public.
Coordinate countywide rural property addressing system.
Provides training to other departments and agencies on how to best utilize the Countys GIS. Also provides access and training for mapping grade GPS units.
Gather, maintain, and provide data necessary to maintain a high quality addressing data for Emergency Management.
Review and input preliminary certified survey maps (CSM) into GIS.
Use relational database management systems (RDMS) and custom application development to automate and improve processes as needed.
Document custom applications and work flows.
Assist in troubleshooting technical issues related to GIS.
Qualifications: EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree in GIS or GIS related field.
EXPERIENCE: Two or more years working in GIS field.
Ability to comprehend and interpret a variety of documents including survey and other maps, Right-of-Way Plats, site plans, permits, deeds, County and other ordinances and statutes, planning reports, etc.
Knowledge of GPS equipment and data collection techniques.
Working knowledge of relational database management systems (RDMS) and management practices. Knowledge of database theory and associated programming languages.
Ability to develop maps, reports, and data using Esri ArcGIS products.
Ability to work independently with little direction.
Ability to communicate effectively with other county staff, town officials, surveyors, local agencies, and the general public both verbally and in writing.
Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public.
Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
